Reflections of North

This is a scene made from Stampscapes.
Scene was completed in 3 weeks.

The scene was stamped in Black Staz On. The number of stamps was between 18-20 stamps. Water colored with Distress Ink re-inkers and fine brushes. Love black and white with sections painted out~ plan to experiment more. The goal was to achieve contrast of colors for depth.

OLW Snowflakes

I want to welcome my new followers and thank everyone for inviting me into their blog world.

Here is Simple One layer Card made from Studio G stamps that I bought for a $1. It took 3 trials to tame my stickles addition.
1. stamped the Sentiment
2. embossed the snowflakes.
3. stamped the little snowman
4 added stickles to the whole snowman (wish the picture captured the sparkle better)
5.tied a red ribbon to emphasis his red scarf.
I'm having surgery tomorrow so hopefully I can start some Christmas cards(fingers crossed). I know a little procrastination going on here. Been playing with my new camera. Then hubby surprised me with a professional flash. I think I need a course on how to use it all.
I pray you all have a great weekend and many blessing to you all~ENJOY!

True Love

Anniversary of our first date..... One year he came home from work all happy with 12 long stem red roses and all I did was cry. Here is a glimpse of that moment. The kids were arguing over whose turn to watch their program on the TV. Our  puppy "Buddy" loved to chase the cat around the kitchen and I dropped the pot roast all over the floor as I tripped over the dog. Then my wonderful husband came through the door with roses and all I could say was "why did you spend money on flowers? He said " Happy Anniversary to the woman I  love and  met for the first time this very day 15 years ago".  Me being covered in pot roast juice and the animals eating dinner he gave me a kiss and I cried. Of course the kids came in the kitchen and thanked the animals for eating the "yucky" dinner.

I remembered the date this year and will not look like a stressed women with day old life all over her~ENJOY!

I cut out a heart stencil with spellbinders and used it as a masked for my scene. I used distress ink and Stampscape Stamps. The sentiment stamps~true love: Studio 112 and the inside sentiment is:Penny Black. I wanted to add some ribbon or twine but decide to leave it simple.

Happy Thanksgiving~Test Tube Cards

I wanted to share a quick project, I made for today's celebration ~ Test Tube Card. I am sure there is a more technical name. These make wonderful little gifts for those special people in your life.
Materials need: Card-stock, Scissors, Scored board or Score tool, Tube, embellishments and adhesive.

Cut card stock cut  to 3.5" x 8.25"
Starting with the long side you will make 3 scorelines   at  3.5", 4.25" and 5"
Then measure 1" down and 1" up from the first scoreline and the 3rd scoreline and make 2 horizontal cuts. Should look like the picture.

Then fold center scoreline and push the middle piece in the opposite direction. Like the picture. Add the tube filled with anything your desire
Then decorate front and embellish as much as desired. I printed off  the image and added scrap paper to make a collage. I added ribbon and a lonely feather in honor of Mr. Turkey. I filled the tube with Chia Latte Coffee to go with all those wonderful pies we will have after dinner.~GOD BLESS AND ENJOY!

Ruffle Scarf and OLC

Just love making these quick projects. It is a long strip of nylon material with holes.(knitting/hobby stores)   Material and knitting needles is all you need. Cast on 5- 7 of those holes and start knitting. Bringing the ribbon  from back to front while you knit and repeat. It took a little less than 3 hours to make. They make nice gifts and look great with your jacket.

CONFESSION:  I have to admit I didn't know what CAS was for the longest time. I just thought people were spelling the word CASE wrong. Months later I finally got it ~Clean and Simple...duh Deanna! I put the definition on my blog to remind me.
I'm horrible with CAS cards because I never leave enough white space or over obsess when there is too much white space. I'm now realizing white space is a good thing and to stop over thinking it. I made the card in 10 minutes and I am pretty happy too how it turned out.
This card is made from Inkadinkado/Cloud 9 stamps, score board, Stickles, Distress Ink Markers and a Breath~ENJOY!

First Snow Storm

The scene depicts a sunny sky before a snow storm. There is a beautiful bright light that radiates through the dark snow clouds just before millions of snow flakes fall gently to the ground.
This is a cloud photo that I turned into this scene using Stampscape Stamps and lots and lots of  dye ink/Q tips.  I tried to to make it look as realistic as possible.~ENJOY!

The sites here where I live are just astounding with the changing of the colors. They are  mahoganies, rust, peach, orange and browns right now.  It is most beautiful with the dark green pines mixed inside all the those delicious colors.

Monumental occasion today all around I finished organizing and made 1 card for 3 challenges.
I did my final  purging last week and spent this week putting it  together- Finished! I  kept only "crafts" that brought pleasure and relaxation to my life. Which is hard  because I like to dabble in all areas but then I was reminded of a post I wrote in  December (Just a thought) and it applied here.

Sunrise

God reveals himself everyday in the sunrise. What a humble experience and yet it is there for all to experience.

The handiwork of his creation gives solitude to reflect  wisdom from above. Gain a greater peace within to a fountain of happiness and fulfillment.

Awaken souls of God's creation, marvel at it's wonders and repetition of the seasons of life. Yet He continues to wait  for the souls of man to awaken~ENJOY!

Wedding Dress

This dress is for CASology: White Challenge. I love to make dress cards. I have had tons of email how do I do it. Well it is very simple...There is no right or wrong way to make it. I use to make paper dresses for my paper dolls when I was little. I take a sheet a paper fold it in half and cut out a design and open it up. I then take the opened dress design and place on the front of the card. The top of the dress is placed on the fold. I trace it out and cut so I have a 2 dresses adhered at the top by the fold. . You can use anything from a stencil to die cut machine. It is all on what you have and keep it fun~ cut paper. Then the fun is all in the embellishment.

This dress is kept very simple in design. I glued tulle and wrapped a ribbon around the waist. For the special sparkle to represent the beautiful bead work on wedding dresses, I added stickles under the dress and on the bodice.
Just have fun and be creative. Have great weekend~ENJOY!

Autumn Pumpkins

Autumn is the subject for the One layer Wednesday challenge this week and Less is More is to incorporate an oval into the design. I know I can combine the two.  Oh my brain is still in sleep mode.....I'll have to dig deeper in there and definitely add caffeine to the process.

Okay!  Coffee is in hand and I am already.............still ready...........nothing!

Well I have to gather some more info to ignite this brain today. Let's try the dictionary :

Autumn:
 1. The season of the year between summer and winter, lasting from the autumnal equinox to the winter solstice and from September to December in the Northern Hemisphere; fall.
2. A period of maturity verging on decline.

Wow!!! way to deep for me this morning except.... I am relating to #2 the more I sit here at my desk and stare out the window....1/2 hour later....Oh....I am getting something pumpkins maybe?...or maybe I am just hungry and pumpkin bread sounds good with my coffee...oh I can't think anymore. Must rest brain too much strain.

Two days have passed and I still have pumpkins on the mind. I just can't combined them into one card though not enough time and brain power  for that...Thank you logic!

So I made my favorite 3d oval pumpkin card and a One Layer Card.
I just love to make this pumpkin card ~LOVE IT!

Here is the recipe:
The trick is oval spellbinders #4 and #5 if the largest Oval in the set is counted as #1 and so on.
It is 3 (#4) ovals and 3 (#5) oval overlapped. I add some distress walnut brown around the edges of each. I add  reddish-orange Prisma watercolor pencils to small pumpkin for depth from the lg pumpkin. Then I ground it with green and stamped Hero Arts wavy season sentiment in Timber Brown Staz On. Cut stem from scraps.

I borrowed the Pumpkin and Autumn stamps from 1-800-mom-stash. She had tons of autumn stamps. I used prismacolor pencils and h20 for it to blend. I have no idea what this whole set is from thinking maybe Inkadinkado?

Thank you for stopping by and visiting~ENJOY!

... you drive me batty...

Here is the simple card I made quickly. I am sorry I didn't realize all the bat cards already but the full moon with the bats is what came to mind. So I made this for hubby.

This card is sponged with Distress Scattered Straw with spellbinder as a stencil. I didn't have a bat so I sketched one and cut it out. I then pop dot them on the moon. The scene was adhered to a black card. I wrote out the sentiment inside and out. This will go into his lunch pal on Monday. Are you wondering why the card is opening on the wrong side. It is not because I adhered it wrong.....He is left handed~ENJOY!

Falling Leaves

                                                                                                       Good Morning

These cards are much cleaner and simpler than the ones I posted yesterday. These are one layer cards with an old stamp I have had for years. Forgive me for not knowing the company. I colored the leaves with distress markers after I stamped in Staz On Timber Brown first.  I added some score lines. I made these for both genders.

TIP:
I add  score lines the width of the ribbon. This holds the ribbon in place. I discovered this trick some time ago because my ribbon would be crooked and move a lot of times. This keeps the ribbon straight and in place~ENJOY!

Gratitude

It is with much gratitude that I am excited to share my post today.  I love the veins in the leaves when the color changes in the fall. So that was my inspiration. I used the spellbinders as stencils and distress ink inside and then I embossed the card with just the veins of the leaves with an embossing tool and stamped Gratitude(?).  Susan is hosting the OLW and has started a Gratitude Campaign for 2012.  What is it you may ask? It is to save Thanksgiving from being downsized and overshadowed by the commercialism of other seasons and activities  So we are spreading some gratitude around early.  I will be posting some family traditions we have that  may be a bit different then some. Start thinking of those around you that you are grateful for and send some gratitude today with a peaceful and grateful heart. Let this be a season of blessings and thanksgiving~ENJOY!

First Day of School

    GOOD-MORNING

I was so sentimental this morning I made this card in honor of  my kids first day of school.  I still can see them with their backpacks holding hands as we walked  to the bus stop.
I have a boy stamp too but couldn't find it this morning. Have a feeling Buddy is laying on it under the table. But I am not going to search for it right now. He looks too tired from getting everyone out the door this morning.
RECIPE:
I just love G Studio's scalloped card sets. I stamped this in Timber Brown Staz on
The portrait stamp with girl is from SU (forever young)
The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.
The color inside portrait is Distress Ink Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick.
The bow was colored with the worn lipstick ink.
The pink Gems were added for some sparkle and so was diamond stickles around frame~ENJOY!

Birch Trees

I had some of these done but haven't had a chance to post them lately. When we were on vacation we went to a museum and they had a sculpture that was the inspiration for the tree shapes. I love Autumn because of the beautiful colors and the harvest that it brings so it was a delight to use the sketches from our trip to create these cards.

The card on the left is a one layer card of birch trees with the color behind representing the fall colors. This was Scored, Sketched, Stenciled, Sponged and Stampscape's Sentiment.
The Card on the right is a sketched and water colored birch scene. When dried it was stamped with pines and geese from Stampscapes. The trees were inspired by a sculpture at the museum. That is why they are so childlike in manner. The color behind can be interrupted as the fall colors in the forest or the sky~ENJOY!

Autumn Watercolor Card

First thing before I get started I would like to welcome my new followers. I have been missing my friend list because some days blogger lets me see it and other days it is just whited out~go figure. I would like to Welcome and Thank You for following my blog

Fall makes me sentimental. Oh..the smell of school supplies, cold mornings and a schedule.

                           Autumn/Fall

I am like a kid in a candy store with Distress Markers; I can't decide what color or technique to do first. I have been playing around with: Coloring Directly on Stamp

2 and 3
4 and 5

I colored the Northwoods Stamp with Distress Markers just once. I spritzed it with water between each impression for a total of 5 images. The top image is the first impression. Impression 2 and 3 are still pretty good even though the 3rd image is getting more muted. Impressions of 4 and 5 image and color was too muted and not as defined. So I added some color using markers directly to image on card. Then muted it with an aqua pen. What a fun technique~ENJOY!

Token Cards:

Have you ever wanted to give a small token to someone special but couldn't find the right size card? I wanted to give some flowers to a friend from my garden and made one of these cards to go with it. Well that started a flood of ideas. I call them Token Cards. These are fun and have Limitless Ideas~ENJOY!

1 gem, 2 colors of green and 3 layers of flowers

The following is a project that uses up left over scraps. With my Spellbinders and Cuttlebug I sat outside and made a few of these over the weekend. I used labels four and flower head dies. Cut 2 label four die and glue one of ends together and embellished. Examples of some tokens inside:)
